Releases

MidnightBSD 2.1.1 release now available: This fixes a bug on the installation media with respect to /usr/lib/libperl.so. Additionally, the following changes are present: root user now uses tcsh as the default shell and less for paging. New PCI IDs list with updated hardware detection. Slow down the loader twiddle.

helloSystem 0.6.0 released: helloSystem is a FreeBSD based desktop system with a focus on simplicity, elegance, and usability. It is intended as a system for “mere mortals”, welcoming to switchers from the Mac. Release 0.6.0 brings KWin as the new window manager and many refinements. An installable Live ISO is available.

GhostBSD 21.09.29 ISO Now Available: This new ISO contains installer fixes, GPU auto-configuration improvement, software updates.

OpenBSD Errata: September 30, 2021 (libressl): An errata patch for LibreSSL has been released for OpenBSD 6.8 and OpenBSD 6.9. Compensate for the expiry of the DST Root X3 certificate. The use of an unnecessary expired certificate in certificate chains can cause validation errors. Binary updates for the amd64, i386 and arm64 platform are available via the syspatch utility.

OpenBSD: Release song 7.0: “The Style Hymn”: There we see developers, busy as bees. Each carefully tending to their trees.

Realtek wireless firmwares imported to OpenBSD: As a result of a licence change by Realtek, that company’s wireless firmware images are now included in the tree.

LibreSSL 3.3.5 / 3.2.7 Released: It includes the following fixes: A stack overread could occur when checking X.509 name constraints. Enable X509_V_FLAG_TRUSTED_FIRST by default in the legacy verifier. This compensates for the expiry of the DST Root X3 certificate.

OpenBSD Webzine: OpenBSD Webzine is done by volunteers who are passionated about the OpenBSD project development. The goal is to allow people to stay informed about OpenBSD in a cool, fun and instructive way, like reading a regularly issued magazine of one’s favorite hobby.

Calamares and Hacktoberfest 2021: Calamares is an independent Linux-distro-installer. It was recently added to FreeBSD ports as well, although you won’t be able to use it as an installer yet. The Calamares project is KDE-adjacent – but independent – so it participates ins some things that KDE projects do not. One of those things is Hacktoberfest.
